The College organize an open conference for our students once every year.
The maiden edition held on the 31st August 2022 which was based on the girls alone named “GIRLS’ NEST”. The girls had open interaction with their speaker on life challenging issues, Self-confidence, building a new me, being independent, self-esteem and how they can be a better version of themselves in character, attitude, personal hygiene, norms and all round. It was really a productive event for the girls which they had fun and had a gift to themselves to go home with.
With so much fun from the girls, the boys were interested and enthusiastic to have their own event. This brought about the Maiden Edition of BOYS’ HUB.
These events began in the same hall in which after the introduction and enlightenment was done. The event led to a break out where the Girls were separated from the Boys for privacy and open-mindedness.
This initiative is to groom dependent, responsible, well-cultured, mannered, sophisticated, responsible Ladies and gentlemen in preparation of the outside would after campus life. Also, to encourage them on their entrepreneurship skills.
Ladies face a lot as a girl child likewise the guys. Parents may not be vividly available to attend to some of their emotional and psychological needs. They may need an interaction to express how they feel and what they pass through on a daily basis.
The first session was taken by a guest speaker, a content creator; Miss Victoria Ajiboye. She talked about Social Media creation. She explained that you do not need to be so rich to sell your talent to the world. All you need is your good concept, being able to sell to people in the most easiest and simple manner.
The second session was taken by our very own Lecturer, Rev. Sr. Celine Onafowope OSF. She talked about “What about self-esteem?” She explained that we need to be confident at all times. Be bold and always let your voice heard. She also spoke about dressing the way you want to be addressed.
The Boys’ Hub had a session taken by priest, Rev. Fr. Andrew Toye Abiodun. He talked on the theme “Developing the Growing Me”. He began by explaining each of his names and making himself a case study to aid his theme. He explained that a MAN comprises of the “WHO” and the “WHAT” Who I am and What I am makes up the identity of a Man.
The journey from ‘Who you are’ to What to want to grow up to be is called Growth/Development. In this growth/development we have the Use of time, Experience, Environment, Habits, Companions, nature vs nurture. In discovering yourself, you need to know your existence, your purpose and your destination.
The Girls had an online talent hunt where they were able to send in what they love to do in a very short video clips. This was sent in before the event. The judges; Mrs. Mary O. Aipoh and Dr. Ogundare A. A. selected the winners and they all went home with cash and material prizes.
The Boys had a panel session with the Lecturers of the College; Dr. Lovelyn Ikejiaku – A counselor, Dr. Ogundare A. A. and Dr. Sunday Fabode. The boys were able to speak up on relationship and How to date.
Gift prizes were given and they all had a gift to go home with after the event.
